The new Baby Niffler interactive toy has finally made it to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando Resort! Baby Niffler officially launched Wednesday, October 30, 2024, in a variety of merchandise locations around the theme parks, so if you’re looking for a little companion to accompany you on your wizarding adventures, then look no further.
The Niffler is a magical beast within the wizarding world with a strong attraction toward all things shiny. They’re covered in a thick, fluffy coat of black fur and have a long, bill-like snout. The Baby Niffler is a battery-operated toy that can be fixed to your shoulder with a magnet and is activated by all sorts of sounds. It comes with a shiny gold Galleon that Baby Niffler collected itself that you can touch to its beak to activate a sequence of reactions.
PRO TIP: Once you secure a Baby Niffler of your own, head over to Universal Islands of Adventure for a ride on Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure. The students of Hogwarts learned all about the Niffler during Hagrid’s Care Magical Creatures class. Baby Niffler isn’t old enough to ride, though, so be sure to leave your new fuzzy friend somewhere safe!
You may be familiar with the other resident shoulder sidekick from The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, the Snowy Owl, which originally launched in November 2023. It was an immediate hit, selling out within days of its release. Julie Borchert, the senior merchandise product developer at Universal Orlando Resort, says the immense success of the Snowy Owl led her team to developing Baby Niffler. “Right away we thought, ‘OK, what else can we work on?’” she says, “The Baby Niffler seemed like a natural fit.”
Baby Niffler not only fits naturally on the shelves next to the Snowy Owl, but he also fits perfectly on our shoulders. Feel the Baby Niffler come to life with animal-like head movements, blinking eyes, and vibrant Niffler noises. It’s extremely hard not to fall in love with the little guy as it rests on your shoulder, closes its eyes, nuzzles its head into you and peacefully snores the day away!
