A chill in the air, a shiver down your spine, a dark shadow in the corner of your eye… these signs can only mean one thing. Dark Arts is returning to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando Resort! And with this year’s celebration of Harry Potter’s 25 Years of Magic — better known as the 25th anniversary of the first “Harry Potter” film — there’s never been a better time to experience the darker side of magic.
Here’s what you can expect to experience as a part of Dark Arts this fall:
- From September 5-November 1, witness Dementors and Lord Voldemort in an ominous spectacle of music and light at Hogwarts castle in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade at Universal Islands of Adventure.
- On select dates from August 27-November 1, come face-to-face with the loyal followers of Lord Voldemort himself as Death Eaters roam the streets of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley at Universal Studios Florida.
Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle | Select Dates Sept. 5-Nov. 1
As the sun sets, make your way to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade for the ultimate spectacle of light and music. Dementors, Death Eaters, and other creatures will emerge from the darkness, swarming Hogwarts castle in sinister images and fiendish magic. Keep your wand at the ready — this show culminates with the ominous image of Lord Voldemort as he summons his cruel legions to swarm the castle.
Death Eaters in Diagon Alley | Select Dates Aug. 27-Nov. 1

Over in Diagon Alley, you can come face-to-face with the darker side of magic as Death Eaters descend on the streets. These devoted followers of Lord Voldemort are here to ensure your loyalty to the Dark Lord.
The best way to demonstrate that loyalty? Themed merch, of course! Prepare for your encounter by stopping by Borgin and Burkes in Knockturn Alley. This dark and dusty shop is the perfect place to pick up some apparel that shows off your allegiance — plus, you can admire the artifacts and collectibles during your browse.
My personal recommendation would be a Lord Voldemort Second Generation Interactive Wand. Although it may share its phoenix feather core with Harry Potter’s wand, its bone-like appearance couldn’t be more different — or more fitting for the return of Dark Arts.
