It was my first week as a Content Strategist for Discover Universal, and my new team treated me to a welcome lunch at what they hyped up to be one of the resort’s most popular dining spots: Mythos Restaurant at Universal Islands of Adventure. Before I started working here, I’d visit the parks every few years, and I vividly remember the grandiose exterior that captures the eye of anyone who strolls by this restaurant in The Lost Continent: its towering rock formations, cascading waterfalls, and the mythical figures carved into its detailed, vast exterior.
As we arrived for lunch, we were greeted by a giant banner waving outside the gates, proudly stating that Mythos Restaurant was named “World’s Best Theme Park Restaurant” for ten years. It was my turn to see what all the hype was about, and, well, spoiler alert: the hype is real.
Stepping into Mythos, I was immediately transported to another world. The restaurant is truly built for the gods, with its cavernous interior creating the feel of a rocky grotto on a distant ocean. While the Orlando heat had us sitting inside (for reference, it was late-May), it didn’t stop me from admiring the outdoor seating with impressive views of Islands of Adventure’s lagoon and the park’s other lands. The mystical ambiance, coupled with what I can honestly say is one the best Pad Thai dishes I’ve ever eaten devoured, had me spellbound, and I was enchanted by all the restaurant has to offer.
Now, you can only imagine how thrilled I was to find that the first project I’d be working on in my new role would be the latest episode of Dine and Ride at Mythos with our adventurous foodies, Brandy and Nadia. It’s like the Mythos gods and the powers that be were summoning me to return. Filming this episode was very special because it came with many firsts: my first experience on a Discover Universal set, my first overnight shoot, and my first time collaborating with Brandy and Nadia…all at the first sit-down restaurant I’ve eaten at in the many years I’ve visited here!
The Mythos gods welcomed me to their table, and now I’m excited to welcome you too.
