About Trattoria del Porto

The interior of Trattoria del Porto at Loews Portofino Bay Hotel

Trattoria del Porto is located on the first level of Loews Portofino Bay Hotel, nestled in the Harbor Piazza. Here, you’ll find cobblestone walkways, beautiful architecture, and picturesque harbor views. “It’s very nautical,” says John Burger, assistant director of food and beverage at Portofino Bay Hotel. “In Italy, ‘trattoria’ is a blanket statement for ‘restaurant’, so Trattoria del Porto is our ‘Restaurant at the Port.’” Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by a casual yet sophisticated space with hints of Italian charm.

One of the newest highlights is the eye-catching chandelier, which spans most of the ceiling and complements the seaside village theme. “Even the bar itself is shaped as the keel of a ship.” Interested in outdoor seating? There is also a stunning new pergola where you can enjoy the fresh air and savor the piazza views while dining.

The Menu

The menu at Trattoria del Porto offers a modern take on traditional Italian fare. From fresh-made pasta to hearty entrees, there is something for everyone.

Interested in a light, refreshing option packed with great flavor and texture? Then the Tuscan Chopped Salad is a must-have! The salami, combined with the crunchy, toasted chickpeas, served on a bed of romaine and drizzled with a fragrant sage vinaigrette, is truly delicious. Enjoy as a perfect starter to your meal with a cup of Minestrone di Pasta or on its own; either way, you can’t go wrong.

If you love pasta, I highly recommend ordering the Cheese Tortellini. This authentic, savory meal does not disappoint. “Cheese tortellini is a classic Italian dish,” says Chef Anukul Hampton, executive chef at Loews Portofino Bay Hotel. “At Trattoria del Porto, it is freshly made and served with a bit of new inspiration.” This dish almost resembles a Bolognese with its harmonious blend of Italian sausage and pomodoro cream sauce. I love the subtle peppery notes of the fennel in the sausage, the creamy four-cheese tortellini, and the earthy flavor of the spinach.

Fun Fact: Trattoria del Porto sources its fresh pasta locally!

Pork Tenderloin from Trattoria del Porto

I would be remiss not to mention one of my favorite dishes: the hearty Pork Tenderloin is cooked to perfection! These beautiful pan-roasted pork medallions, drizzled in pancetta oil and served alongside cannellini beans, roasted grape tomatoes, and Italian cabbage make the perfect meal. Build on the amazing flavor by ordering a side of Yukon potato purée or creamy cheese polenta.

The Desserts

If you’re anything like me and love a sweet treat at the end of every meal, then be sure to stick around and experience Trattoria del Porto’s chef-curated dessert selection. Chef Jennifer Augello, executive pastry chef at Portofino Bay Hotel, takes inspiration from her own experience. “I grew up in a very traditional Italian household, so going to the local bakery to pick up bread, cookies, and pastries was almost a religion,” she says. “It was where we would catch up with neighborhood friends, and it was also where I have the fondest memories. The Duet del Porto is my interpretation of all the diverse flavors from those long-lasting memories.”

The Duet del Porto is a decadent favorite featuring cherry pistachio almond cake, topped with a creamy, coffee-infused caramel mousse and Linzer cookies. If something light, fruity, and refreshing is more your speed, I highly recommend the Raspberry Vanilla Bar! It features a delightful zesty lemon custard sitting atop a buttery shortbread cookie, all beautifully garnished with marinated raspberries.

At Trattoria del Porto, guests are invited to embark on a culinary journey celebrating the rich traditions of Italian cuisine. Whether savoring bold flavors, soaking in the inviting ambiance, or indulging in lovely dessert options, guests will feel transported to the heart of the Italian Riviera.
