It’s safe to say Universal Studios Hollywood knows a thing or two about world-building. I mean, have you seen SUPER NINTENDO WORLD? I remember the first time I ever walked through that iconic green pipe and found myself immersed in the land of Piranha Plants, Goombas, and ? Blocks. The attention to detail is incredible. So much so, that no matter where you look, you’re bound to come across hidden (and some not-so-hidden) gems that serve as a nod to the beloved franchise.
Here’s a list of some of my personal favorite easter eggs and fun little details scattered across the land.
Princess Peach’s Castle

As soon as you enter SUPER NINTENDO WORLD, you’ll find yourself inside Princess Peach’s Castle. The portraits along the walls change to tell a story: Bowser Jr. has stolen Princess Peach’s Golden Mushroom and we’re there to help recover it! When you’re exiting the castle, notice Bowser Jr. has left us a little message on the door.

Once you’re outside, take a second to appreciate the castle’s exterior. My favorite detail is the stained-glass window depicting Princess Peach’s outline: an iconic portrait that I’m glad I get to see brought to life.

Inside the Land

See if you can spot some of your favorite characters hidden throughout SUPER NINTENDO WORLD. All along Mt. Beanpole, you’ll see Yoshi, Goombas, Piranha Plants, and Thwomps.
Keep an eye out for Pikmin — little plant-like creatures featured in the Nintendo games of the same title — throughout SUPER NINTENDO WORLD. Hint: You’ll want to look up.
And in the aquatic-themed restrooms, you’ll find my favorite characters swimming above the sinks: the Cheep Cheep! Several of these are depicted in a mural on the wall swimming alongside some Bloopers.
Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge

As you make your way through the queue for Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge, you’ll find that Bowser has quite a collection of items in his castle. I personally love looking at his bookshelves. With so many titles ranging from “How to Talk with Princesses” to “The Subtle Art of Breathing Fire,” his book collection is impressive. Hop in the queue for Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge and see if you can find more.
Also keep an eye out for Bowser’s throne, where he keeps a portrait of his beloved, Princess Peach.
Above Bowser’s desk, you’ll also find a mobile with some important figures dangling from it, including a Boo, Kamek on a broom, Bullet Bill, and Bowser’s Airship.
Before you enter Bowser’s factory, where Bomb-ombs and Mechakoopas are being assembled, look at the board hanging on the wall. It depicts how Team Bowser plans to line up for today’s race.

Toadstool Cafe

At Toadstool Cafe you’ll be able to enjoy some delicious food, including burgers, salads, and desserts prepared by Chef Toad himself. While you’re seated in the dining area, peek out the windows and you’ll notice Toads preparing your meal. Stay alert for when Bowser’s Airship flies through, darkening the skies of the Mushroom Kingdom.
Digital Stamp Collecting

If you’re really looking into a fun activity to do throughout SUPER NINTENDO WORLD, then consider obtaining a Power-Up Band available for purchase at select retail locations. With this, you’re able to sync with the Universal Studios Hollywood app to collect digital coins and stamps.
There are over 100 digital stamps and several ways to collect them. Earn one when you’ve completed each of the four interactive activities called Key Challenges, in SUPER NINTENDO WORLD. You can also earn stamps by exploring the land, punching ? Blocks, riding Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge, and more. There are also seasonal stamps, which are only available during certain times of year or during special events.
