Bow down to the Prince of Darkness! At Halloween Horror Nights (HHN) 2026, the iconic Ozzy Osbourne will at last reign supreme in his very own haunted house: Ozzy Osbourne: Prince of Darkness, a dark fantasy journey through Osbourne’s musical realm.
I sat down with senior show director Charles Gray and scenic designer Nick Collins to learn more about the haunted house, and I can confirm that it’s sure to hit all the right notes for die-hard Ozzy fans. Ready to hop on the Crazy Train and get a sneak peek at the scares? ALLLL ABOOAARRDD!
The Story
Ozzy Osbourne: Prince of Darkness features an original narrative inspired by the work of heavy metal legend Ozzy Osbourne. The overarching story goes like this: The Prince of Darkness (Ozzy) has been imprisoned, and his devoted acolytes have come together to break him out. After he escapes the dungeon, you’ll follow him on a journey through a dark, fantastical realm inspired by his music. For example, the “Black Rain” album takes the form of a polluted, industrial wasteland where acid rain falls from the sky — an effect you’ll actually feel as you walk through the space.
“The house takes inspiration from the era in which the music was published, the album covers, and the world of [Ozzy’s] music, lyrics, and his visuals,” explains Charles. “We’re leaning into [the idea of] each album cover [being] a portal into a world.”
“It’ll be really cool to see what things people gravitate toward,” adds Nick. “Whether it’s their favorite song in a scene, or it’s their favorite album cover… there’s a little bit of something for everybody.”
Of course, you won’t be alone on your journey. The acolytes of the Prince of Darkness will be there, too, lurking in the shadows alongside other twisted characters who inhabit the world of Ozzy Osbourne. And as you travel through the scenes, you’ll watch as Ozzy himself shapeshifts into some familiar forms — including one that fans are sure to go batty for.
The House
Audio always plays a key part in HHN’s haunted houses, and it goes without saying that music will be intrinsic to your experience in Ozzy Osbourne: Prince of Darkness. With such a rich well of albums, songs and iconography to draw on from Ozzy’s career, the challenge for the creative team was one of prioritizing and curating.
“We’re using songs that people know and love from his solo career, but we’ve also tapped into some of the lesser-known songs that uber fans will recognize and love,” shares Charles. “And then we’ve actually mashed them up! So you get all these different textures throughout.”
I know what you’re asking yourself: Will or will I not get to go off the rails on a crazy train? While I’m not at liberty to reveal all of the songs or scenes featured in the haunted house, I’m delighted to confirm that you will be welcomed onto the Crazy Train by Ozzy himself — wearing his conductor best, no less!
This brings me to another key challenge of designing Ozzy Osbourne: Prince of Darkness: figuring out a visual identity to tie together the various scenes and songs of the haunted house. Sure, the “Black Rain” and “Crazy Train” scenes both draw on Ozzy’s music and lyrics. But what thematic design elements should connect those songs and scenes?
From the jump, Charles and Nick knew that they wanted to take a dark fantasy approach to the haunted house’s design. In addition to crafting the narrative that guests can follow from scene to scene, they cultivated a distinctive vibe and visual identity that will feel authentic to even the most discerning Ozzy Osbourne fan.
“If you were to go to some kind of metaphysical shop and see one of those sculptures that has a skull, a bat, a snake — I want the house to feel like that sculpture,” Nick says. “It should feel metal… but different enough that we actually have an opportunity to scare them.”
And while audio is, of course, a huge part of the experience, Charles adds that video also helped tie everything together. The elements allowed the team the chance to really showcase the expanse of Ozzy Osbourne’s dark kingdom.
Like all of the best HHN houses, Ozzy Osbourne: Prince of Darkness is packed with Easter eggs for fans to spot. As Ozzy himself has such an iconic creative legacy, these hints are woven into the scenic design, costumes, and masks. Ultimately, Charles and Nick agree that creating a haunted house themed to an icon as legendary as Ozzy Osbourne — who they both happen to be a huge fan of — has been an incredibly special experience. The team worked closely with the Osbourne family through every step of the creative process, ensuring that Ozzy’s vision and legacy is well-represented.
“We showed them our sculpts, we showed them our drawings, our color elevations, our intent… they were with us every step of the way,” shares Charles. “I wanted to create something that meant something to them, too. It’s for the fans, it’s for them, it’s for everyone.”
“There’s a lot of love in it,” adds Nick. “I guarantee that there will be people emotional when they leave the house. No doubt about it.”
