Growing up minutes away from Universal Orlando Resort, I was shaped by some of the amazing and strong female characters I have met here throughout the years.
These powerful women are incorporated all throughout Universal CityWalk, Universal Studios Florida and Universal Islands of Adventure. They help protect their islands, star in their own attractions, meet and greet with guests and altogether help make our theme parks what they are.
Here’s a list of some of the amazing women at the parks and why I think they represent everything girl power stands for.
Professor Doctor Penelope Tibeaux-Tinker Toothsome
You can find Penelope cooking up new inventions at The Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen in Universal CityWalk. She’s a professor AND a doctor. #Goals. She’s a world traveler and used inspiration from all of the exotic places she’s visited to create chocolate dishes that are out of this world.
Celestina Warbeck
Celestina Warbeck dazzles with her talent but also with her philanthropy. See how at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley. She is not only an amazing singer, but has also used her fame to raise funds for St. Mungo’s Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries. She’s glamorous, talented and giving.
Princess Poppy
Princess Poppy (or Queen Poppy depending on where you are in your Trolls binge) is a glitter-loving, positivity promoting, hug-happy Troll who is the perfect role model of female empowerment for girls everywhere. You can find her and her pals in Universal Studios Florida.
Velma Dinkley and Daphne Blake
Velma Dinkley is a science guru who is best known for losing her glasses alongside Scooby-Doo. But don’t let that confuse you – Velma can solve a mystery with ease thanks to her quick wit.
Daphne Blake is another amazing mystery solver. She’s courageous in the face of danger and is quick on her toes.
Find these two cruising around in The Mystery Machine on the streets of Hollywood in Universal Studios Florida.
Storm (Ororo Munroe) and Rogue (Anna Marie)
Not only is Storm the daughter of a Kenyan princess, but she can also control the weather AND fly. I could stop right there. She has led the X-Men and has been a member of both the Avengers and the Fantastic Four. You can meet her in Marvel Super Hero Island or join her fight against villain Magneto on Storm Force Acceleration in Universal Islands of Adventure.
While Rogue was at first a villain, she soon joined the X-Men and became a hero. She’s a mutant, which means she was born with superhuman abilities. She has the power to absorb and sometimes remove memories, talents and knowledge from anyone she touches. She is an adventurer who has helped save her friends (and the world) countless times. You can meet her alongside Storm in Marvel Superhero Island.
Princess Fiona
Princess Fiona is the keeper of her own destiny. She doesn’t judge a book by its cover, seeing the best in everyone she meets. She’s a martial arts expert and has a killer singing voice. Meet her in Universal Studios to hear all about her adventures in the Kingdom of Far Far Away.
Marge and Lisa Simpson
Marge Simpson is the ultimate super mom. She’s funny, caring, and loves her family. Lisa Simpson is an intelligent vegetarian with a passion for world affairs. She’s musically inclined and plays the baritone saxophone (how cool is that?). She also is a fan of and plays ice hockey. You can meet this mother-daughter duo in Springfield, U.S.A. in Universal Studios.
As you can see, we have more than a few kick-butt female characters, each with her own unique story.
