Complete Guide to Universal Epic Universe

November 6, 2025
Guests walking through the Chronos gate and into Epic Universe

Throughout all of history, humans have desired to journey beyond the everyday lands they call home; to see new sights and travel the world. Sounds cute — if you’re satisfied with one world. For a special few (and I get the feeling that includes you) there’s a larger dream, a desire to travel the cosmos and explore worlds where soaring dragons, menacing (or misunderstood?) monsters, endless play, and spellbinding adventures await.

Luckily for those with curious hearts, one doesn’t have to rely on travel via comet to venture into worlds of such whimsy — besides, the Celestians use the comets for racing now (but more on that later). Step through the emerald Chronos — the portal through which guests enter Celestial Park — and witness the power of the universe harnessed to transport you beyond mystical portals to five immersive worlds at Universal Epic Universe.

With sun and moon the stars and time, the Chronos spins and worlds align. For if you seek with curious heart, your compass true and stars to chart, beyond this gate find gardens green, and epic worlds to fill your dreams.

Where to Stay Near Epic Universe

I know what you’re thinking: “Can this all-powerful Chronos charge up a portal straight to my bed?” While that may sound nice after a bright day under the Florida sun, the answer is unfortunately no. But you know what’s even better? Staying at a Universal Orlando Resort Hotel! Your epic journey through the cosmos can begin mere moments from your head lifting off your pillow.

A view of the lobby in Helios Grand Hotel

In the backyard of Celestial Park and overlooking Epic Universe, you’ll find Universal Helios Grand Hotel. This sunlit sanctuary right has a dedicated entrance into the theme park and all the epic adventures that await. As if waking up to a view of Epic Universe wasn’t cool enough, guests of Universal Helios Grand Hotel get Early Park Admission (valid theme park admission required, select attractions only) and can start their journey through the cosmos before even the Celestians have had their morning cup of coffee.

The How to Train Your Dragon Kids' Suite in Helios Grand Hotel

For the “How to Train Your Dragon” fans out there, living your best Viking life doesn’t have to end when you walk back through the portal from How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk. The How to Train Your Dragon Kids’ Suite has a carved wooden door and a room fit for a pro dragon rider with Nordic-style bed frames and a full-wall image of Toothless and Light Fury soaring through the skies. Junior Vikings are sure to dream of soaring with dragons and exploring the colorful village of Berk. In addition to the kids’ room, the suite includes a private room for parents and a common area, offering space for an entire family of Vikings.

When you’ve returned from your adventure through Epic Universe, end the day with a trip to Bar Helios, a rooftop bar with incredible 360-degree views of the theme park and beyond. Things to Do at Epic Universe

Celestial Park

A view of Celestial Park through the Luna Statue at Epic Universe

A world between worlds, the cosmic heart of Epic Universe, Celestial Park is the first world you’ll encounter on your journey. Not to be simply passed through, Celestial Park is a whimsical Eden where the sun rises and sets in a juggle between statues of Apollo and Luna, filled with vibrant flora, lush greens, and sparkling waters that have inspired centuries of artists, musicians, explorers, and inventors. This wondrous world will set the tone for a journey truly unlike any you’ve experienced before.

Constellation Carousel in Celestial Park at Epic Universe

Take everything you know about carousels and blast it right out of orbit, because Constellation Carousel redefines the up, down, round-about ride you think you know. You won’t be able to miss the gilded dome, ornate with visions from the clearest night’s sky as you ride constellations across the galaxy. Aboard your choice of celestial beast, you’ll rise six feet into the air as you turn in different directions within the larger spinning carousel. With no minimum height restrictions this carousel is perfect for families with explorers of all heights and makes for an iconic baby’s first ride! With eight different original music tracks to accompany the experience, one ride simply won’t be enough.

Celestian Suggestion: Save a little time for a nighttime spin before you pass back through the Chronos.

Stardust Racers

Guests smile as they ride Stardust Racers in Celestial Park

Legend has it that prior to the dawn of portals, the keepers of Celestial Park, known as Celestians, rode comets to travel from world to world. While the Chronos has allowed us other means of cosmic transportation, use of the comets has taken a turn toward a more recreational sort. Enter: Stardust Racers. Board a comet and race across the sky on these dueling coasters blasting off at speeds of up to 62 mph and heights of up to 133 feet, complete with two launches and a barrel roll in the ride’s signature Celestial Spin, where you and your opposing racers cross over each other. Will the yellow or green track lead you to victory? You’ll have to race and see!

Celestian Suggestion: Keep an eye out for fun details on the comets while you wait to ride! All but one comet are named after real-life scientists, and a clue to the one fictionally-inspired name can be found strapped to the back of each vehicle. Let’s just say there’s a reason these comets don’t hit 88 mph…

Astronomica

Park maps are such a simple earthling concept. The Celestian way involves an astronomically *wink* large compass equipped with arrows, lights, music and bouncing waters to help direct you to the portal you seek. Whether you and your travelers need a refreshing break or to stop for directions, wade through this splash pad on your travels through Celestial Park.

Interactive Key Challenges

When you purchase a Power-Up Band, it can keep track of your digital coins, stamp collection, and achievements. Plus, it makes a great souvenir. With a Power-Up Band you have access to all the fun key challenges that SUPER NINTENDO WORLD offers. While collecting digital coins, you can also tap your Power-Up Band to collect digital keys and play Key Challenges where you’ll encounter Goombas, Bob-ombs, Piranha Plants, and more! After collecting at least three digital keys, you can unlock the boss battle, Bowser Jr. Shadow Showdown.

Bowser Jr. Shadow Showdown

So, those digital keys you collected… Turns out Bowser Jr. stole the Golden Mushroom from Princess Peach! He has it hidden away in his secret hideout, and the only way to get to him is to collect three keys to gain entry. Once you infiltrate his lair, you’ll have to take him down and return the Golden Mushroom to its rightful place!

If you’re wondering what a Power-Up Band is or how to use it, our Guide to Power-Up Bands at SUPER NINTENDO WORLD breaks it all down.

Dark Universe

Dark Universe in Epic Universe

Monsters, in the classic sense, are just mysterious myths in your world. Terrifying tales of creatures of the night meant to haunt your dreams and nothing more — right? Wrong. In the shadowy world of Dark Universe, the monsters that lurk in the dark corners of your mind now roam free on the streets of Darkmoor Village.

Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment

Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment in Dark Universe at Epic Universe

Controlling monsters — now there’s an idea. A bad one, that is. Electricity cracks its way through to the depths of the arcane Frankenstein Manor where Dr. Victoria Frankenstein, great-great-granddaughter of Dr. Henry Frankenstein, seeks to redeem the family name. Her misguided experiments to imprison and control monsters don’t sit too well with Dracula, and what was once a slightly chilling walking tour through the Frankenstein Manor becomes an electrifying race against a revolt of raging monsters unchained.

Escape the grips of nightmare-defying animatronics as you twist and turn, seated upon a robotic arm ride vehicle that will lead you to safety — according to Ygor, at least.

Curse of the Werewolf

Ah, the question that has divided us all since the early 2010s… vampires or werewolves? Dark Universe is a true utopia where we no longer have to choose between such alliances. After getting a healthy dose of Dracula and his many brides, you can walk right over to the camp of the Guild of Mystics and learn about the Curse of the Werewolf. Charge through the dark forest at speeds of up to 37 mph on this family-friendly, spinning-coaster as you dodge gnashing teeth and blood-curdling snarls. Is that a twinkle in your eye, or is the full moon getting to you, too? You may don the mark of the werewolf after all…

Meet Frankenstein’s Monster, The Bride of Frankenstein and more!

Not all encounters with monsters have to end in “AHHHHHHHH”–– *eternal silence*. You can meet Frankenstein’s Monster and The Bride of Frankenstein at select meeting times in Darkmoor. Roaming about you may also encounter Ygor, The Invisible Man, monster hunters, and ominous musicians singing of the lore of the world. Before you ask, no, they will not play anything alluding to a graveyard smash.

Darkmoor Monster Makeup Experience

Two guests in monster makeup walking around Dark Universe

Transform into a terrifying creature of the night — no bites, lightning bolts, or full moons required. Skilled artists have taken over Dr. Pretorious’ old lab and are making over willing participants without the use of demented experiments. Whatever monster you choose, know it’ll be fierce-some.

PRO TIP: The Darkmoor Monster Makeup Experience requires a separate purchase to participate. Seats are limited; save time by buying your experience in advance.

On this motion simulation ride, you’ll find yourself in the middle of larger-than-life scenes where Harry, Ron and Hermoine battle through the depths of the Ministry’s departments, uncovering new mysteries and ensuring that justice is served.

Le Cirque Arcanus

Cirque Arcanus in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Ministry of Magic

While the magical creature sightings you’ll encounter around wizarding Paris are nothing short of amazing, for an experience of an unbelievable spectacle, one must step into the Le Cirque Arcanus tent. Within, you’ll find that ringmaster Skender has stolen Newt Scamander’s suitcase in an attempt to use the creatures to revive his struggling show. Watch in wonder as one brave circus employee seeks to rescue the creatures in a stage show of other-worldly puppetry and special effects.

Cast Spells and Interact with Fantastic Beasts

Stop by Cosme Acajor Baguettes Magique, where you’ll find some of the world’s finest wands. Use your interactive wand to cast spells and interact with enchanted objects and creatures in the storefronts and other areas around Place Cachée. For the first time, you’ll be able to use your wand to interact with enchanted portraits located in the courtyard of Le Goblet Noir, so start practicing your spell-casting skills to impress onlookers.

How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk

A view of Isle of Berk in Epic Universe

This is Berk! A charming little village just a portal trip away for your vacationing desires. It’s been here for seven generations, but every single building is new. They have fishing, hunting, a charming view of the sunsets, Vikings and — likely the reason for your visit — DRAGONS. Vikings and their scaly flying companions are now living in harmony thanks to the leadership of Hiccup and Toothless, and you get to soar into the action, and maybe even bring back a new scaly friend of your own.

Hiccup’s Wing Gliders

Guests riding Hiccup's Wing Gliders in Epic Universe

They say the best view of Berk is seen from the skies. The question is: Are you brave enough to soar at dragon-eye heights? Enter Hiccup’s workshop to find Hiccup’s Wing Gliders, his newest contraption to test just that. Aspiring dragon riders will sweep and soar around the Isle of Berk on this roller coaster at speeds of up to 45 mph and heights of 50 feet, encountering Hiccup, his dragon Toothless, and other notable dragons along the way.

Dragon Racers Rally

Dragon Racers Rally in Epic Universe

Aspiring dragon riders know you need to be prepared for anything the skies may bring. Train like a champion dragon racer and practice high-flying, high-speed aerobatic maneuvers on this attraction where you’re truly in the driver’s seat. Whether you’re more of a straight-forward racer, or a showman out to try the flashy flips and tricks (looking at you, my barrel roll record chasers), with control of your “wings,” on this spinning pendulum ride the thrills are what you make of it!

Fyre Drill

Fyre Drill in Epic Universe

If you plan on bringing a fire-breathing dragon back through the portal home with you, might I suggest a water-wielding training session aboard Fyre Drill. Leave it to Ruffnut and Tuffnut to transform Berk’s Fyre Skööl into an interactive, ultra-wet boat battle at sea. Did they do it just to battle it out against each other? Findings are inconclusive, but you can ask them yourself after you board your boat and spray flame-like targets and other boats with water cannons shooting up to 28 feet through the air.

The Untrainable Dragon

Hiccup onstage in The Untrainable Dragon

A new dragon has made its way to the Isle of Berk, and the village is left wondering: have they finally encountered a truly untrainable dragon? In this live musical stage show, watch along as Hiccup and Toothless soar overhead and into the scene to help Gobber and Astrid understand this new creature — “Together!”

Meet Toothless, Hiccup, Astrid and More

If you’re a fellow inventor wanting to pick Hiccup’s brain, an aspiring dragon racer seeking to hear about Astrid’s adventures, or if the thought of having that iconic bonding moment with Toothless brings enough tears to your eyes to make someone question if a fire was recently put out, your dragon-sized dreams are about to come true. You can meet Hiccup, Toothless, Astrid, Ruffnut, Tuffnut, Gobber, and The Night Lights around the Isle of Berk!

Viking Training Camp

The only thing more fiery than dragons? Children with tons of energy and nowhere to put it. Take your junior Vikings to Viking Training Camp where they can climb, slide and explore their way through agility courses and more in this shaded interactive play area.

To really set the mood, take in the sight of the neon dragons with a drink in-hand from The Tiger Bar.

Atlantic

Let’s play mermaids — except instead of swimming in a pool, we’re dining at Atlantic. This gilded, glass-walled spectacle across the Neptune Pool in Celestial Park is no aquarium; it’s where you’ll find an array of delectable seafood dishes with a celestial twist. As one of the two table-service restaurants in Epic Universe, you’ll find elevated dishes that’ll transport you right under the sea. Try appetizers like Prince Edward Island Mussels floating in a tomatillo tequila butter sauce, or entrees like Seared Scallops resting on a mixture of arborio rice, trumpet mushrooms, charred romanesco, and parmigiano-reggiano, paired with a shimmery drink from the Aquaria Bar.

Comet Dogs

The Celestians have found a way to make everything better, and at Comet Dogs, you’ll discover an array of decorated dogs that you’ll have no choice but to love. Step inside this once-Victorian theatre to experience the best pizzas Celestial Park has to offer. One bite of the Giant Mushroom with its creamy roasted garlic bechamel, savory mushrooms, and truffle aioli will have you singing too.

Celestian Suggestion: The pizzas are all made to order and are hot and freshhh when coming out. The Giant Mushroom was one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had — period.

Oak and Star Tavern

A comet fell from the sky and an enchanted oak tree grew in its place. Now, we get to gather around its fiery hearth and enjoy some barbeque — along with live music! A beautiful story, really. Enjoy classic barbecue favorites like 14-Hour Smoked Brisket, Spit Roasted Citrus Herb Chicken, and Smoked St. Louis Ribs.

Bar Zenith

Bar Zenith is the best spot to grab a refreshing drink, find some shade, and take in the sights of the dancing waters of the Cosmos Fountain.

Meteor Astropub

The Celestians were so skilled in racing comets that they could steer with one hand and grab a bite of a handheld with the other. The love for burgers, sandwiches, and other finger food favorites grew to such an extent that we are now invited to share in the enthusiasm at Meteor Astropub.

Star Sui Bao

Because the love for bao is universal. Chow down on your choice of Kimchi Bao, Celestial Steamed Bao, and more after a race on Stardust Racers.
