[UPDATED] Here’s What We Know About Universal Fan Fest Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood

If you’re anything like me, you’re a fan of being a fan. There’s nothing like coming together with other people just as geeky — ahem, I mean passionate — as I am about the movies, shows, books and games I love. Fandoms take movies and turn them into real, lived-in communities. And it’s exactly that kind of community that Universal Studios Hollywood wants to nurture and celebrate in 2025. 

Introducing: UNIVERSAL FAN FEST NIGHTS.

Universal Fan Fest Nights is an after-hours event at Universal Studios Hollywood dedicated to sci-fi, fantasy, gaming and anime. And at the risk of editorializing, you know what? I’ll say it. In the meantime, here’s what to know about this brand-new Universal Studios Hollywood event.

THE BASICS 

What is Universal Fan Fest Nights? 

Universal Fan Fest Nights is a brand-new, separately ticketed, after-hours event coming to Universal Studios Hollywood in spring 2025. The event is dedicated to sci-fi, fantasy, gaming and anime. 

On select evenings, guests will have access after regular park hours to experience an array of immersive activations, live entertainment, themed food and drink and exclusive merchandise at Universal Studios Hollywood. Think of it like Halloween Horror Nights-meets-comic book/pop culture convention.

And yes, there will be cosplay at Universal Fan Fest Nights. More details on that to come at a later date.

When is Universal Fan Fest Nights? 

Universal Fan Fest Nights will take place on select nights in spring 2025. Specifically, it’ll run on Friday, Saturday and Sunday for four weekends in a row. Those dates are April 25, 26, 27; May 2, 3, 4; May 9, 10, 11; and May 15, 16, 17, 18.

WHAT’S COMING TO UNIVERSAL FAN FEST NIGHTS

We can’t tell you exactly what immersive experiences you can expect from Universal Fan Fest Nights quite yet. But we can get you ridiculously excited for the universes you’ll get to explore at the event. Here are just a few of the Intellectual Properties (IPs) coming to Universal Fan Fest Nights:

STAR TREK

“Star Trek” fans, your moment has arrived! The iconic science-fiction franchise and pop cultural tentpole will be featured at the inaugural Universal Fan Fest Nights. The “Star Trek” universe has taken the form of television shows, movies, video games, comic books, and more, and now, it’ll take the form of…something very exciting at Universal Studios Hollywood. Are you ready to boldly go where no one has gone before? 

BACK TO THE FUTURE

The ‘80s blockbuster was shot in part on the Universal backlot, so of course we’re going to celebrate it at Fan Fest Nights. “Back to the Future” sparked one of the most successful trilogies in film history, won an Academy Award, and has inspired countless last-minute costumes for people with red puffer vests in their closets. Get excited to look your McFlyest. 

DUNGEONS & DRAGONS 

Get your 20-sided dice ready, because your Dungeons & Dragons fantasies are about to come to life! The World’s Greatest Role-Playing Game is a full-blown cultural phenomenon, so of course it’s coming to Universal Fan Fest Nights. An epic adventure full of fighters, wizards, monsters and treasures await you at Universal Studios Hollywood.

JUJUTSU KAISEN

This manga and anime sensation is making its Universal Studios Hollywood debut during Universal Fan Fest Nights! “Jujutsu Kaisen” follows Japanese teenager Yuji Itadori, a first-year student at Tokyo Jujutsu High, where he’s training to become a Jujutsu Sorcerer. The series blends dark fantasy and supernatural elements with traditional shonen action motifs — we can’t wait to see how it comes to life at Universal. 

ONE PIECE

Monkey D. Luffy and his Straw Hat crew have crossed the Grand Line on their way to Universal Fan Fest Nights! The popular anime series “One Piece” has been entertaining fans worldwide for more than 25 years, and now spans 1,122 episodes to date. The beloved show follows Monkey D. Luffy on his quest to become King of the Pirates, as well as the epic adventures of his crew as they search for the fabled treasure of Gol D. Rogers: the One Piece. Get ready to set sail!

THE WIZARDING WORLD OF HARRY POTTER

If there’s a fantasy experience at Universal Studios Hollywood, you know The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is gonna get in on the fun. The streets of Hogsmeade have some extra magic in store for Universal Fan Fest nights, including an encounter with a Niffler, one of those mischievous magical creatures with a penchant for stealing shiny objects. Prepare for some special memories — and maybe guard your Galleons.

SUPER NINTENDO WORLD 

Yet another beloved fandom will have reason to celebrate at Universal Fan Fest Nights! Step into the Mushroom Kingdom to partake in a special after-hours Yoshi celebration, including an egg-hunt and other experiences.
