Universal Fan Fest Nights is all about getting inside your favorite sci-fi, fantasy, gaming and anime worlds. From immersive in-world experiences to undeniably fun themed snacks to fandoms in cosplay, this inaugural event truly is for the fans. There’s already going to be so much to take in during this limited-time event — but there’s always room for more gamification, right? Introducing: the Universal Fan Fest Nights Digital Medallion Quest!
Here’s the deal: During Universal Fan Fest Nights, fans are invited to embark on a digital quest to locate four digital medallions across the theme park. You’ll use your phone to help find them. Each digital medallion represents the four genres represented at the event: sci-fi, fantasy, gaming and anime. And yes, they’re glorious. Take a peek at the digital medallions here:
Each of the four digital medallions can be found at the four physical medallion kiosks located throughout the theme park. Each kiosk is marked with a “?” medallion rotating on top of it. You really can’t miss ‘em.
So how do you get a collection of sweet sweet digital medallions all for yourself? First, you’ll have to obtain your digital Fan Card. You’ll do so on your mobile web browser — no need to download an app. The first and simplest way to access your Fan Card: follow this link.
Now, let’s say you’re reading this blog on your phone, and you’re standing in front of a medallion kiosk, watching that “?” coin rotate IRL. First of all…wow. Congratulations! You’ve found your first digital medallion. This is a huge moment in the life of any Universal Fan Fest Nights attendee. Hold for applause.
Now, back to business. To get your digital Fan Card, you can scan the QR code on the kiosk. You may also see a QR code on in-park signage referencing the Universal Fan Fest Nights Digital Medallion Quest — those will bring you to the website, too. Once you’ve clicked the link or scanned the QR code, follow the prompts and either create or log into an existing NBCUniversal profile. (Note that guests must be 18 years or older to access the site.) Got your account? Let’s rock. Inside the website, you’ll find a map of the theme park with four pins marking each medallion kiosk location. Visit all four kiosk locations to collect the sci-fi, fantasy, gaming and anime medallions. To collect a medallion, simply tap your Fan Card to the kiosk, or enter the four-digit code listed on the kiosk. BOOM! Digital medallion collected.
But what’s the point of a quest without the promise of a glorious reward? Collect all four medallions and you’ll unlock the golden Ultimate Fan Medallion. This digital medallion gets you major bragging rights to share with friends and family on social media, but that’s not all! Bring it to the Universal Studio Store inside the theme park to exchange it for a physical reward. Simply tap “Redeem Physical Reward Now,” which will prompt a pop-up you can show the Universal team member at the store’s check-out counter.
This collector’s item is the first of its kind at Universal Studios Hollywood — and a commemoration of the very first Universal Fan Fest Nights. Getting this physical reward will give you so many layers of bragging rights, I’m getting dizzy just thinking about it.

- Take your digital Fan Card to the Universal Studio Store inside the theme park to redeem your Ultimate Fan Medallion for a physical(!) reward while supplies last.
