Summer is truly the best time of the year, in my opinion. I love the warm Southern California sun, trips to the beach, hanging out with friends. And this year at Universal Studios Hollywood, my summer plans will also include a few dinosaurs, a Time Machine (built out of a car), and a gigantic great white shark. Introducing Universal Mega Movie Summer, an all-new event coming to the theme park from June 13 to August 10, 2025! Here’s everything you need to know.
What is Universal Mega Movie Summer?

Universal Mega Movie Summer is the ultimate movie celebration — and the perfect excuse for you to bring your friends to come party in the theme park. From June 13 through August 10, movie lovers everywhere are invited to immerse themselves in some of the most memorable Universal films to ever grace the big screen. This year, it’s all about “Jurassic World,” “Jaws,” “Back to the Future” and “Wicked.” With the purchase of general theme park admission, you’ll be able to experience Jurassic World – The Ride featuring a Mosasaurus Splash, all-new character meet and greets, brand-new photo ops, limited-time food and beverage offerings, themed merchandise, and groovy DJs spinning beats every single night.
Life Finds a Way… to Beat the Heat

Look, the Southern California sun is no joke. That’s why we’re going to cool off at Jurassic World – The Ride featuring a Mosasaurus Splash, exclusively for the summer months. If you’ve experienced this ride before, then you’re well aware of the wet seats as you board, the tidal wave at the end and all the splashes in between.
But during summer, you’ll be drenched in more water than ever. We’re talking bigger splashes, four new additional spitters throughout the ride plus additional water cannons during the final drop. And if you’re not completely drenched, guests watching you approach the unload dock might help you out. Introducing the brand-new water blasters. For a small fee, guests have the opportunity to shoot water at those onboard an approaching boat — because, well, why not?
You’ll also get a chance to explore Jurassic World during a scavenger hunt. Find all of the tiny dinosaurs scattered around Jurassic World (that includes the ride itself) and unscramble the letters they’re holding up. Once you’ve figured out the secret message, head into Jurassic Outfitters to receive an exclusive button, available only during Universal Mega Movie Summer.
On top of all that, we’ve got a new “Jurassic World” movie coming out this summer! “Jurassic World Rebirth” hits theaters July 2. To celebrate, the dino-centric section of the theme park will feature a new Jurassic World explorer for you to meet, as well as a brand new photo-op. Pose alongside the giant Spinosaurus coming out of the water as it attacks your boat and live to tell the tale!
Shark! There’s a shark in the theme park!

Can you believe “Jaws” turns 50 this year? And what better place to commemorate the blockbuster that changed moviemaking forever (and made us all terrified of the beach) than Universal Studios Hollywood? Take a bite out of some new food and beverage options at the Amity Island Cafe (a.k.a Hollywood & Dine, across from the Universal Studio Store) and purchase exclusive “Jaws” merchandise.
What’s that? You’ve always wanted to come face-to-face with a great white shark? Well, at Universal Studios Hollywood, you can. Snap a picture with the shark hanging on display just outside the WaterWorld venue. While you’re there, you can meet the two men who’ve successfully captured him: shark hunter Quint and Amity police chief Brody.
For more shark encounters, hop on The World-Famous Studio Tour and visit the New England town on Amity Island. And, special to Universal Mega Movie Summer, the area will be fully decked out for a Fourth of July celebration all summer long. As your Studio Tour tram rolls past the beautiful lagoon, you’ll feel at peace knowing the great white has been captured and all is right in the world. Wait, the shark was captured…right?
When this baby gets up to 88 miles per hour…

As of 2025, it’s officially been 40 years since “Back to the Future” first hit theaters. To celebrate the film that has withstood the test of time, Universal Studios Hollywood is bringing some cool “Back to the Future” experiences for fans to enjoy.
You’re going to want to make like a tree and come to the theme park to meet Marty McFly, Doc Brown, and Doc’s trusty four-legged companion, Einstein. Snap a picture next to the Time Machine and enjoy some “Back to the Future”-themed snacks at Mel’s Diner, including the Flux Capacitor Patty Melt, Doc Brown’s Chicken Pot Pie, the Time Traveler’s Milkshake, and more.
Everyone deserves the chance to fly
If you were also completely blown away by the musical masterpiece that is “Wicked,” then prepare your brooms and floating bubbles. This summer, you’ll get the thrillifying chance to meet Elphaba and Glinda. Oh, Oz!
Then, head over to the Feature Presentation Store for some merch. These include stationary, pins, toys, jewelry, and some wicked apparel. You’ll be so happy you could (sing it with me now) melt!
Keep the Party Going

The summer festivities don’t end there. Dance the night away at Production Plaza with a live DJ who’ll keep the party going. Snap a picture alongside a sculpture of Toothless from “How to Train Your Dragon” in celebration of the upcoming live-action film. And get a sneak-peak of an actual ride vehicle from the much-anticipated, brand-new roller coaster coming to Universal Studios Hollywood.
Universal CityWalk Hollywood is getting in on the Universal Mega Movie Summer fun, too. Head over to Universal Cinema enjoy some special anniversary movie screenings, as well as the all-new “Jurassic World Rebirth.” Then, dance the night away at the 5 Towers Stage with different DJs and street performers taking over the venue on select weekend nights.
Universal Mega Movie Summer at Universal Studios Hollywood is a celebration you really won’t want to miss. Come check it out and experience a memorable summer day (or days, you wouldn’t want to miss a thing)!
