In The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, this iconic beverage is served three ways:
Cold Butterbeer
Cold Butterbeer is one of the two original varieties available in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Boasting a carbonated base and a foamy top, the drink goes down nice and smooth. It’s available at the Three Broomsticks, Hog’s Head, and several carts throughout The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. A dairy-free version is also available.
Frozen Butterbeer
Perfect for those hot summer days in Hogsmeade. Blended with ice, this variety slightly differs from a cold Butterbeer — or any other type, for that matter. Like cold Butterbeer, frozen Butterbeer is available at the Three Broomsticks, Hog’s Head, and various carts throughout The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. It can also be made vegan.
Hot Butterbeer
This is perhaps one of the coziest drinks in the entire world, according to most witches, wizards and muggles we know. This the warmth of this delicious beverage perfectly complements the snowy environment of Hogsmeade. You can find this beverage at the Three Broomsticks and Hog’s Head. Keep in mind this variation of Butterbeer does not have a vegan version available.
Butterbeer Treats
Butterbeer Fudge
Butterbeer Fudge is a Honeydukes mainstay and well worth the trip to the iconic wizarding confection shop. As if you really needed an excuse to go. What’s my favorite thing about Butterbeer Fudge? It travels well, meaning you can bring a bit of the wizarding world home with you. (One of the most delicious bits of the Wizarding World, no less!) Butterbeer Fudge is only available at Honeydukes.
Butterbeer Ice Cream
No matter the temperature, no matter the time of year, Butterbeer ice cream always hits the spot. The soft-serve blends vanilla ice cream and a Butterbeer ribbon into a perfect swirl, perfectly encapsulating the taste of the iconic beverage. Butterbeer hard-pack ice cream is available at the Three Broomsticks; soft serve ice cream is available at the brand-new Florean Fortescue’s Ice-Cream counter, located inside Honeydukes at Universal Studios Hollywood.
Butterbeer Potted Cream
In my opinion, this is a can’t-miss treat at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. This silky-smooth, Butterbeer-flavored potted cream comes in an adorable mason jar, making it as charming as it is delicious. Only available at the Three Broomsticks, Butterbeer Potted Cream is the perfect cap to a savory British feast.
The Verdict
The “best” Butterbeer treat? Well, that’s a question between you and you. But if you’re asking me, a good old-fashioned cold Butterbeer always hits the spot. (My editor would like you to know she has very strong opinions on that last sentence.) But ultimately, my favorite type of Butterbeer doesn’t really matter. What matters is you coming to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and discovering your favorite for yourself.
