Universal Epic Universe is Back

March 3, 2021
Epic Universe

Work is resuming on Universal Orlando Resort’s Epic Universe, the widely anticipated theme park that will create an entirely new level of theme park entertainment.

Work on Epic Universe paused in July 2020, as the company adjusted plans in the midst of the pandemic. The restart will begin immediately, but is expected to take several months before reaching full-speed as Universal restaffs for the project and reassembles its vendor and contractor teams.

Restarting Epic Universe will result in hundreds of jobs within Universal and thousands of jobs across Central Florida. These positions include highly-skilled professional positions, all levels of construction jobs and more.

The Epic Universe project will infuse billions of dollars into the Florida economy and generate more than 14,000 permanent jobs in addition to the thousands of jobs that will be created during its development.

“The restart of construction of Epic Universe is a terrific moment for our employees and for our theme park business in Florida,” said Brian L. Roberts, Chairman and CEO of Comcast Corporation. “It is our single largest investment in the state and represents our enthusiasm for the spectacular park and the economic opportunities it will generate.”

“We are excited to begin work on Epic Universe again and for what this moment means for our industry, our community, our business and our team members,” said Tom Williams, Chairman and CEO for Universal Parks & Resorts. “Our confidence in our collective future is as strong as ever.”

“The resumption of the Epic Universe project couldn’t come at a better time,” said Orange County Mayor Jerry L. Demings. “Our community has so many talented workers who will benefit from this massive project. I am confident it will deliver a huge economic boost to Orange County.”

Epic Universe will feature a new theme park, an entertainment center, hotels, shops, restaurants and more. It will be located on a 750-acre site that nearly doubles Universal’s total available acreage in Central Florida. It will be located a few miles from Universal Orlando’s current theme parks in Southwest Orange County (specifically, south of Sand Lake Road and east of Universal Boulevard).

“Our vision for Epic Universe is historic,” Mr. Williams said at the time the project was announced. “It will build on everything we have done and become the most immersive and innovative theme park we have ever created.”

Obviously plans are already made… but it would be awesome if there was an RV a park just for people coming to Universal.

Congratulations. Universal is surpassing Disney as THE destination in Florida. Disney cares not about its loyal customers as has been evidenced lately and Universal has definitely rolled out the Welcome Mat. Continue to provide wonderful entertainment and rewarding your loyal annual pass holders as you have been doing. Great going !!

    So, At Epic Universe:
The RV/Campground would be an immersive extension of the park experience.

    Harry Potters “Forbidden Forest”
Jurassic World Evolution Forest and Jungle.
    Kung fu Panda “Bamboo Jungle”
Super Mario World has the “Forrest of Illusions”
Zelda has “Kokiri Forrest” and there is an additional area called, the “Lost Woods”
Then there is a New “game”; Animal Crossing with animal villagers, a deserted island and tent dwelling. (Family Friendly).

*these could all me subdivisions of one larger RV/campground experience. Nature trails can take “explorers” from one experience to the other with interactive activities in each one.

I’m so excited to see work on EU resume! I wish everyone who will be working on creating, crafting, building, and who will be working at EU down the road the best of luck. I’m looking forward to seeing the new addition, and what you’re going to create. I’m sure it’s going to be wonderful. I’ve been really appreciative of the good work Universal has done already, and as someone with disabilities, I love that the resort and parks are a fun, immersive place to go even if I don’t ride anything that day, or can’t ride a ride at all. I’m hoping to be able to experience EU in the future, too. I’m also thrilled this will be bringing in new jobs in a time where they’re needed. Please keep treating your team members well.

Out of curiosity with the proposal of the new Universal Park is that going to be included if you’re already a passholder or are you going to have to buy a separate pass for that Park

As a recent pass holder, and will be for many more years, I just wish they would make the park and new park more handicapped accessible. It’s still hard to get on so many rides.
