A crowd watches a show at 5 Towers Stage at Universal CityWalk Hollywood.

What’s better than watching a movie with your besties? Watching it under the stars, that’s what. And for five weeks, you can do just that at Universal CityWalk Hollywood. Here’s what you need to know about Movie Nights at CityWalk:

While Universal Cinema is my favorite place in L.A. to catch a movie, Movie Nights are a totally different vibe. Seen these movies so many times you know every single line? Movie Nights are for you, superfan. Bring your friends, bring your snacks, bring your coziest blanket and settle in to watch your favorite Universal movies for the 574th time.

What’s on the lineup for Movie Nights at Universal CityWalk Hollywood?

Over the next five weeks, you can catch classic, family-friendly Universal films al fresco at Universal CityWalk Hollywood. Here’s the lineup:

All movies start at 7 p.m. sharp — that’s right, there aren’t any trailers at Movie Nights at CityWalk! A huge W for my early bedtime.

That said, I’d recommend getting to CityWalk early. Starting at 6:30 p.m., you can expect pre-movie entertainment including trivia and giveaways. There are no reserved spots and only a limited number of chairs available at the 5 Towers Stage for movie-viewing. That means you’re encouraged to bring your own blankets and chairs to make yourself super comfy as you settle in for the flick.

Do I need tickets for Movie Nights at CityWalk?

As I mentioned above, these movie screenings are free and unticketed. All the more reason to get to the 5 Towers Stage early to stake out your spot!

But do keep in mind that parking at CityWalk costs $10 after 5 p.m. If you plan to arrive before 5 p.m., check out the Discover Universal guide to parking at Universal CityWalk Hollywood for more information.

Can I bring snacks to Movie Nights at CityWalk?

You’re welcome to bring your own snacks into CityWalk for Movie Nights! This is the true delight in picnic-style movie-watching: the BYO snacks element. And CityWalk has tons of food and beverage options for you to partake in, from full-service restaurants like Antojito’s Cocina Mexicana and VIVO Italian Kitchen, to quick-service spots up at CityFood. If you’re looking for classic movie snacks, you can pop into Universal Cinema and purchase them there. Or, you can bring your own eats from home.

Movie Nights guests are encouraged to bring their own food and beverage — whether bought at a CityWalk venue or elsewhere — to enjoy during the movie. That said, please check with Universal Studios Hollywood’s current code of conduct to ensure your outside food and beverage is not prohibited.

Catch you all at the 5 Towers Stage on September 29 — who wants to go tête-à-tête on “What Is This Feeling” with me?
