Today is the best day because it’s National Doughnut Day! To celebrate the holiday, Voodoo Doughnut at Universal CityWalk unveiled an all-new doughnut inspired by an iconic summertime ice cream favorite.
The Universal Orangesicle – which you can only get at Universal Orlando Resort – is covered in citrus frosting, topped with chocolate pearls and filled with Bavarian cream…and it’s even on a popsicle stick! And it’s now available every day.
A raptor from Jurassic Park unexpectedly crashed the celebration. The prehistoric predator was first in line and chomping at the bit to take the first bite. Some brave guests even attempted feeding the cold-blooded hunter the sinfully delicious doughnut.
When creating the Universal Orangesicle, our culinary team worked closely with the founders of Voodoo Doughnut, Kenneth “Cat Daddy” Pogson and Tres Shannon. Incorporating the offbeat and fun vibe of the Voodoo Doughnut brand in the new doughnut was the number one goal, followed by making sure it was delicious and eye catching.
Each Voodoo Doughnut location has an exclusive doughnut that represents the city the venue is located in. To keep with the tradition, our culinary team took inspiration from the state of Florida, known for its orange groves and sunshine. They also added a popsicle stick to hold up the vibrant orange doughnut. Can you say, hello Instagram pic?
There are more than 50 delightfully weird and sinfully delicious doughnuts to try while celebrating the day. My personal favorites are Mango Tango and Dirt – so I’ll definitely be grabbing a few…or a dozen to celebrate the day. Click here for the full menu.
