When we come to Universal Studios Hollywood, we come to laugh, to play, to shop… and to eat of course. Food is an essential part of any theme park day, and if you’re anything like me, you need lots of options. Well, Universal Studios Hollywood has got you covered. From giant doughnuts and lattes to burgers and milkshakes, here’s a list of everything you can find at each of Universal Studios Hollywood’s Upper Lot bars, snack carts, and restaurants.
PRO TIP: Check out the Universal Studios Hollywood app for a more in-depth look at each menu and to mobile order your food at select locations.
Production Plaza
Hollywood and Dine
Hollywood and Dine is our first restaurant on this list, as it’s the first place you’ll come across when you enter the theme park. Their menu rotates to reflect the current season or special event, but you can usually find burgers, fries, salads, and corn dogs. If you’re in the mood for beer, wine, or cocktails, they’ve got those, too.
Power Up Cafe
If you’re in the mood for a Nintendo themed snack, Power Up Cafe is the place for you. With the Fire Flower Pretzel and Super Mushroom Calzone, you’ll certainly get an energy boost here. Don’t forget to try out their fizzy lemon-lime drinks like the Super Mushroom Fizz, 1-Up Mushroom Fizz, Super Star Fizz, or the Fire Flower Fizz. These drinks come with popping pearls and a Power Up: drop the Power Up into the drink and watch it change color (and flavor)!
Universal Tower Snack Bar
Looking for an on-the-go snack option? Try out the Universal Tower Snack Bar. They’ve got hot dogs, churros, giant pretzels, pickles, ice cream sandwiches, and the highly coveted theme park essential: turkey legs. This is your perfect stop for a frozen margarita, fountain drinks, and some bottled water too. Stay hydrated!
City Snack Shop
Head over to the City Snack Shop for some more snacks! Here you’ll find giant pretzels and what they call The Walking Taco: chips topped with beef chili and melted cheddar cheese. For my vegetarian friends: the menu includes options like the giant cinnamon roll, chocolate chip cookies, and a spinach feta pretzel. Besides beer, cocktails, bottled water and a fountain drink, you can grab some freshly brewed coffee or hot chocolate here, too.
Snack Carts
The Upper Lot is basically snack central. Other carts in Production Plaza include:
- Manhattan Market: Located next to a bright yellow taxicab in the New York section, here you’ll find hot dogs, chips, giant pickles, and bottled drinks.
- Ice Cream Stand: Just down the street from the Universal Tower Snack Bar, you’re able to purchase cotton candy, bottled water, and (drum roll please) ice cream!
- Concessions: Right across the ice cream stand, pick up a churro or an Icee here.
- Popcorn Stand: Right by Cocina Mexicana’s pick-up window, this is the go-to spot for fresh buttery popcorn.
- Hot Dog Stand: Located at the entrance to the Starway, this place specializes in the Walking Taco, the Chili Cheese dog, regular hot dogs, and their ultimate menu item: the 22-inch all-beef chili cheese dog.
Cocina Mexicana
In the mood for some Mexican food? Cocina Mexicana has got sopes, taco platters, taco salads, and nachos. Try some with your choice of chicken, carnitas, carne asada, beef birria, or Beyond Meat al pastor. Wash your meal down with a frozen margarita or a regular fountain drink. And don’t forget to try their chamoy pineapple spears, perfect for those hot Southern California days.
Mel’s Diner
Anyone up for a traditional 1950s throwback needs to check out Mel’s Diner. Purchase a classic burger, hot chicken sandwich, chili cheese dog, chicken Caesar salad, or a tuna melt. For my Vegan friends: check out their Beyond BBQ Cheeseburger. And don’t forget to check out their milkshakes and funnel cakes. Yum!
Mulligan’s Irish Pub
If you’re in need for a quick cocktail, then stop by Mulligan’s Irish Pub. Order a Shamrock Margarita, a Michelada, or a Guiness Old Fashioned. Need a caffeine boost? Get an Irish Coffee. Or if you’re in the mood to celebrate your own theme park get-away, try out an Irishman on Vacation cocktail.
French Street Bistro
The French Street Bistro is the perfect little French street cafe. Sure, they sell coffee, lattes, frappes, teas, and hot chocolate. But their menu also includes some hot and cold sandwiches, salads, charcuterie boards, quiche, and fresh baked goods.
Illumination’s Minion Land
Despicable Delights
Do you have a sweet tooth and a love for Minions? Then I suggest hitting Despicable Delights in Illumination’s Minion Land for a Cinnamon Churro, Minion Cotton Candy, soft serve ice cream, or their signature Nutella Banana Pudding. You can also try out a Felonious Float: that’s a raspberry Icee with banana candy, frozen yogurt, and whipped cream.
Illumination’s Minion Cafe
If the restaurant has got a good pun on the menu, I’m sold. So with a dish named Despica-Bowl Ramen, the Minion Cafe is a must-try. Here, you can get ramen, nachos, a grilled cheese served with Minion-shaped tater tots, chicken tenders, and a salad. You can also purchase a refillable Minions Souvenir Sipper!

Try an Ice Cream Conan (real “Simpsons” fans get that reference), a Brain Freezin’ Sundae, or a Specialty Sundae. Allow me to highlight the craziest thing on the menu (crazy delicious, obviously): Phineas Q. Butterfat’s Everything but the Kitchen Sink sundae.
