Do you love the thrill of picking up a laser gun and zapping some aliens? Maybe you long for the moment every trip where you can pick the song you jam out to while being flipped, turned, and rocketed into the sky. And maybe, just maybe, you like the thrill of the “will I, won’t I” get wet in the seat you choose at the Bilge-rat Barges.
We all love to have a part to play in our fun, but some of us need the rules of engagement broken down nice and easy. If you like all of the above and are a fan of the tell-me-how-it-is-ness of a line dance (cha cha now y’all), then this ride is probably for you. Oh, and it’s great for the old fish, and really new fish too.Â
The Ride
Based on the book by the same title, One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish is a fun-for-all-ages ride that lets you spin, steer, and swoop up, up, up in the sky. The first task is to choose which fish you’re going to board. You might think that you’ll only have red and blue fish to choose from, but on the contrary, this ride makes it easy for the little ones to engage, practice their colors, and choose from red, blue, yellow AND green fish.
It’s easy to get lost in the fun of this ride — wind in your hair, your favorite people by your side, a fabulous view of Circus McGurkus Cafe Stoo-pendous, a good tune to swim around in the sky to — what dreams are made of, really. But be warned, if you don’t pay attention to that silly little tune, you might just hobble off this ride a little more drippy than when you walked on.
Each fish is equipped with easy-to-use controls that let you maneuver up, up, up, and down, down, down. The lyrics of the song are telling you which direction to steer in so you can avoid a squirt of water from the fishy fountains that shoot out in time with the musical rhyme.Â
Now, having ridden this a number of times myself… I have yet to decide if we have an unreliable narrator on our hands or if I’m just bad at following directions — but I did in fact not stay dry. Will you and your fishy crew? Guess we’ll have to see but the *mystery* is part of the fun.
Ride Details
One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish, is a circular motion gondola ride, which means it has multiple arms that the rider can control to rise and fall as they rotate around a central axis.Â
- Being the theme park staple that it is, this ride is fun for the whole family with no minimum height requirement for passengers with a supervising companion.
- This attraction has a modified vehicle — er, fish —  to assist those with mobility devices upon entry.
- As you soar toward the sky, your flying fish reaches heights of more than 12 feet.
- If you’re anything like me, you’ll probably get wet.
Explore Seuss Landing
You will walk away from this ride with at LEAST two things:
- A SUPER catchy tune stuck in your head for the next two weeks. (Really, no need to thank us, it’s the least we could do.)
- A new passion to discover all that Seuss Landing has to offer after witnessing the colorful views from your aquatic promenade through the sky.
If you want to take your Seuss Landing experience to new heights, check out The High in The Sky Seuss Trolley Train Ride for a spectacular view of Universal Islands of Adventure.
For my land lovers, take a ride on The Cat in the Hat for some more wobbly, wonky, wiggly fun. There’s a fish (this one’s *gold*), a cat, a hat, and a couple of things, what could go wrong?
I know I know, it’s hard not to grin wide while you’re swimming and soaring up in the sky. If you manage to not accidentally swallow a bug up there and ruin your appetite, head over to the Green Eggs and Ham Cafe and try the Buffalo Chicken Tots. They’re my very favorite from the menu and a can’t-miss treat when visiting Seuss Landing!
With all the color and wonder that comes with the world of Seuss, be sure to take plenty of pictures! Pro tip: The Truffula Trees make for the PERFECT photo op.Â
